Montgomery County Regional SGA (County SGA) Vice President

(Involved 2018-Present)

  • Led a forum on evaluating the role of School Resource Officers in MCPS schools, with guest speakers from MCPS administration, the County Council, and the MCPD

  • Organized bi-monthly SGA Summits to connect student leaders at every high school in MCPS to countywide activism resources and opportunities, and talk about issues that affect different schools

  • Worked with WXY, the firm that is conducting the MCPS boundary analysis, to get student input on their processes and findings of school district lines and resource disparities in the county

  • Organized events for middle and high schoolers such as a Free Self-Defense Class, Resume-Writing Workshop, Interviews Skills Workshops, and more

  • Connected students with career development opportunities and local adult mentors in fields such as politics, business, finance, medicine, the arts, and more

  • Founded the MoCo EmpowHER Leadership Institute, which teaches young girls leadership skills such as public speaking and understanding of womxns’ activism

  • Lobbied for gun violence prevention in Annapolis with state legislators 
    Organized MoCo to 100, an effort to get 100% of all MCPS high school seniors to become registered to vote in the November 2020 election

  • Coordinated the implementation of new school branches at all 26 MCPS high schools

PERIOD National Youth Advisory Councilmember

(2020-Present)

  • Youngest member on PERIOD, the leading international organization dedicated to combating period poverty and furthering the cause of menstrual equity across the world, Youth Advisory Council

  • One of twelve selected councilmembers from across the world selected to advise PERIOD on strategic programming, specifically related to racial justice and inclusion

  • Distributed over $50,000 in grant money to grassroots organizations and PERIOD chapters across the country fighting period poverty amidst the COVID-19 pandemic

County Council Climate Education Workgroup Student Representative

(2019-Present)

  • Appointed by the Montgomery County Council as the student representative to comment on the county’s carbon emission reduction plan

  • Created student engagement plan to empower students to reduce carbon emissions

  • Helped ensure that Montgomery County is on track to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 0% by 2035

MCPS District Assessment Committee Student Representative

(2017-2019)

  • Appointed as the student representative to comment on the county’s new standardized testing policy

  • Advocated for getting rid of standardized testing like the PARCC

  • Led the creation of a new approach to education focused on more learning and less testing and presented my proposals to the Board of Education

Domestic Violence Coordinating Council RespectFest Student Advisor

(2019-Present)

  • Planned the first-ever 2020 RespectFest Healthy Teen Dating festival, as well as the Choose Respect Healthy Teen Dating Conference

  • Met with the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council to work to reduce the incidence of domestic violence and creating a safe community for families to live free of abuse

  • Hosted Let's Talk Respect, an event live-streamed on MCPStv to announce MCPS's reaction to sexual assault allegations and reporting/response policy

Montgomery County Junior Councils (MCJC) President

(2017-2018)

  • Advocated for issues important to middle schoolers by meeting with policymakers in the various levels of government

  • Achieved the right to cellphones during lunch in numerous MCPS middle schools

  • Organized monthly General Assemblies hosted at different middle schools across the county to connect students with leadership opportunities

  • Raised over $1000 for the Make a Wish Foundation

MCPS Systemwide Wellness Committee Member

(2019-Present)

  • Worked with MCPS officials, the Board of Education, parents, and teachers to create recommendations for systemwide mental health policies

  • Advocated for increased mental health focus in schools through health education, proper staff training, and more school psychologists

Maryland Association of Student Councils Executive Board Member/Trainer

(2017-Present)

  • Taught workshops on advocacy, lobbying, and testifying to student leaders across the state of Maryland through the Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC)

  • Connected with student advocates across different counties in Maryland to bring new ideas to Montgomery County

  • Met with the presidents of other county student governments across Maryland to organize a coordinated response to issues facing Maryland students, with an emphasis on racial equity

Richard Montgomery High School

Class Vice President

(2018-Present)

  • Organized a menstrual equity campaign to collect free pads and tampons for Richard Montgomery’s bathrooms

  • Mobilized students to write letters to Maryland state representatives demanding HB 208 be passed

  • Listened to the opinions of my peers and brought change to my school through new school events

  • Kept the student body engaged and connected through innovative virtual school events throughout the COVID-19 pandemic

Roberto Clemente Middle School

Schoolwide Vice President

(Involved 2015-2018)

  • Organized a middle school walkout in support of stricter gun control laws to promote student safety

  • Advocated and met with school administrators to gain cell phones during lunch 

  • Received award for the best Middle School SGA in the state of Maryland
